By booking your pet with Denmark Beach-Combing Dog Wash, you agree to these conditions;
Before the Groom:
Vaccinations: Please make sure all your dogs’ vaccinations are up to date as well as flea and tick treatments. This helps everyone’s dog stay healthy.
Toileting: Please toilet your dog beforehand if possible. A long walk is best as it will assist your dog being content during the groom. A toilet, drink and rest break will be offered to your dog during the groom as well, as your dogs’ happiness is important to us!
Parking: Please park in the driveway near the letterbox. You can turn your car around at the top of the driveway to help navigate back onto the road. I will give you the address when you book as this dog grooming salon is by appointment only. (0402 801 351)
Time: Please do your best to be on time as there will be other clients booked in behind you. We do like to provide extra pampering time for your dog while they are with us, and we don’t want them to feel rushed.
Cancellations: Cancellation of Grooming Appointment / No-Show: 24 hours’ notice is required for grooming cancellations and rescheduling so we can give your appointment spot to another dog. If less than 24 hours’ notice or in case of no-show, a Cancellation Fee of $50 will be added to your next booking or payable at the time of cancellation.
Prior to Arrival: Please tell your groomer of any medical conditions, injuries, growths, allergies, or phobias your dog has. We need to be well informed to keep your dog safe and plan any interventions which may occur, possibly including providing a second person to assist. Your groomer will also do a general health check of your dog at the start of the groom. Any issues will be documented, and you will be notified so you are able to plan the best course of action for your dog. All veterinary costs will be the dog owner’s responsibility.
During the Groom:
Dog Numbers: Dogs are groomed one at a time. This helps dogs who are timid around other dogs enjoy a quiet groom and ensures undivided attention for your dog during their session. Two or more dogs can be booked in if they belong to the same family and are used to being together.
Crate Use: A crate set up with comfortable blankets, water and treats is available as a quiet, safe rest space should a dog need it. Please let your groomer know if your dog is not crate trained and suitable arrangements will be made for your dog during their break time.
Human Interactions: Please note we do not allow non-staff members to stay while grooming dogs for safety reasons. Dogs can be easily distracted or excited and therefore move around a lot more, which is when injuries can occur.
Fencing: The dog grooming area is locked from the inside to keep your dog safe and there is high fencing and a grass area.
Ears: After discussing ear infections with veterinarians, cleaning and removal of hair will only be done to the external parts of the ear. If there any signs of infection or inflammation, we will not clean the ears and you will be advised to consult a veterinarian for medical advice. If your dog has had trimming around the ears or hairs plucked it is not uncommon for a haematoma to develop. This can happen due to your dog scratching an area that feels different or from the area being handled a lot during the groom. The haematoma can burst and bleed which is usually a superficial injury which looks worse than it is. Contact your vets to find out the best way to handle this for your dog. Any vet fees are at the dog owner’s expense.
Flea Control Policy: We appreciate all our clients who regularly treat their dogs for ticks and fleas. This is a home business, so if fleas are detected we must decontaminate the area to avoid clients’ dogs as well as our own pets from getting flees. A decontamination fee will be applicable in the event of fleas and the cost can be seen in the price list.
Grooming Time: Each groom is on a individual basis depending on coat type, size of the dog, coat condition and any special requirements. A groom can take from two to three hours, however you will be phoned or texted to notify you when your dog is finished. Please don’t arrive early! (Unless you have called ahead of time) Dogs will get excited if you are nearby so please come on time, not early to pick up. Your dog is very smart and will recognise the sound of your car or the smell of you approaching. This WILL make your dog excited and bouncy! If your dog is too excited, we may not be able to finish neatly, and risk of injury increases (not to mention stress for your groomer). There is a Tavern nearby, I recommend popping in there if you find yourself needing to fill in more time while you wait.
Sharp Things: Sharp scissors, clippers and other tools will be used in a safe manor around your beloved pet. Dogs can be unpredictable at times and have been known to suddenly lick the scissors or jump just at the wrong time. EVERY bit of care will be taken for your dog, but please be understanding if an accident occurs. Our staff are first aid trained and will respond promptly in an emergency. Should your dog need veterinary care it will be the owner’s responsibility. If your dog required matting removal, their skin will be sensitive, and they may irritate their skin by rubbing on the ground or scratching themselves. Please try to reduce this from happening. You can hire ‘cones’ from the vets should you need one or ask us for some advice.
After the Groom:
Pick-ups: As this is a home-based dog grooming salon, council regulations do not allow me to have dogs for an extended period of time. Please be prompt once you receive the call or text to pick up your dog. If I cannot get in touch with you I will contact the second contact person provided on your form.
Payments: Please note payment is at pick up by cash or EFTPOS.
Afterwards: We love to hear how your dog is going. Please feel free to send us pictures and let us know how you are going. If you would like changes done to your groom, we are happy to take steps towards a new style for next time!
Re-Booking: We recommend re-booking regularly to avoid missing your preferred grooming day. You may book up to 3 appointments in advance. This will benefit your dog as there will be less growth to manage and benefit your wallet as the grooms should be in the lower end of the price estimate.
